Happy Birthday, Moon: 2-Week Curriculum for Pre-K and Kindergarten

“Happy Birthday, Moon” was a favorite in my homeschool days — those cozy read-aloud moments are unforgettable! This guide gives you two weeks of fun, packed with learning activities in math, phonics, reading, social studies, science, social/emotional skills, and music & movement.

Kids will dive into exciting topics like moon phases, landforms, the letter B, counting and money, calendars, prepositions, story characters, and more. It’s a wonderful way to learn and play together. Enjoy the adventure!

Project Based Learning encourages students to develop critical thinking skills, solve real-world problems, and pursue their passions. This lesson introduces Purposeful Project Learning, a clear framework that gives students a starting point and goal.

Students explore the driving question: How can I design a spacecraft and plan a successful mission that overcomes space travel challenges while supporting exploration and survival? They have the option to choose or create their own final project.

Mini-lessons cover essential topics such as Newton's Laws of Motion, measuring distances in space, using scale for space models, and building a mission crew. Challenges include managing life support emergencies like oxygen shortages, repairing broken equipment such as damaged solar panels, and addressing food shortages on long missions.

To support their learning journey, students receive planning pages, journal prompts, book recommendations, and other resources for their Purposeful Project Learning space adventure.
