Vibe with the Season
I grew up and spent most of my homeschooling years in the state of Florida. Natural seasons felt short lived and most of the time nearly imperceptible. Even though there didn’t always feel like a definitive new season, there were small “changes.” The change felt nice. It felt like a small rebirth. Now that I live in a state with very tangible season changes, I sense that rebirth even deeper.
If there is one thing I could go back and do in my homeschool it would be vibing more with those seasonal change. Embrace it. Swing open the front door and greet it with a big hug. Those seasonal changes are cues for our body to shift. Sometimes these cues are telling us to slow down. Sometimes they are telling us to ramp up and push hard. Watch what nature does.
What if we built our homeschool day around the flow of nature? What if we listened to that small voice that prompts us to take a breath or move full steam ahead? One of the very best things about homeschooling is that you get to create the rhythm and flow. You are the author of what your days, weeks, and even years look like.
In my Homeschool Roadmap and Intentionality Guide I talk about defining your non-negotiables and revisiting them each season. The change in season is a great time for us to reflect and redesign. There is no rule that says whatever you decide for your homeschool day is set in stone for the next 175 days. It’s not. You have permission to change, pivot, and shift with the season.
Vibing with the season is such a beautiful way to show our children how to respect natural rhythms. It is a beautiful time to observe nature and lean directly from it. It is a beautiful space to focus on what is important now.
You’ve got this!
Warmly,
Joanna
