The Beginning - A Homeschool Journey Starts
Homeschooling was never something I imagined I would do. When I dreamed about life as a mom, homeschooling was not included. The idea came slowly as my daughter excelled in all her preschool activities. I wondered if the public school would be the best option.
I took time to talk with friends, brainstorm ideas, and challenge myself on the idea of what homeschool would, or better yet, could look like. Quickly, I found myself confident that homeschooling could be a option for our family. I had always been passionate about education and thought the best way to use my skills and talents would be to benefit my family.
I knew that sacrifices would have to be made. I understood that this would be a tough job. I reconciled that fact that saying “yes” to this decision meant saying “no” to others. While all of those things were true in the moment. I didn’t realize the kinds of sacrifices that would need to be made. I didn’t fully realize how trying of a job this would be day in and day out. I wasn’t able to foresee what those “no’s” might be.
In the end, our journey led us right where we are today. All the good and the bad.
I wouldn’t change it.
I am grateful for the time I had with my kids. I am thankful that they grew up with a strong bond that has carried them through unimaginable tragedy. I am passionate about education and am fortunate to have experienced it from many different lenses.
I can’t wait to share all the things I have learned and share tangible resources with you and your family. I wish I could say the journey was all rainbows and butterflies but that would be dishonest and I promise to share the true story of our journey.
Warmly,
Joanna
